Abstract

Purpose: This study was investigated effectiveness of the education program about values of marriage, children and gender role to university students. Methods: One group pre and post test design and structured questionnaires were employed for data collection to university students during the period of September to October, 2011. A structured questionnaires on values of marriage, children and gender role developed by Young-Mi Park were checked prior to and after the education program given to the university students. Frequency and t-test (independent and paired) statistics were applied to the data analysis. Results: A total of 143 university students in first and second grade participated in the study. There were statistically significant differences between pre-test and post-test after education program in values of marriage (t=-5.12, p<.001) and children (t=-4.90, p<.001), however no difference in value of gender role (t=-1.63, p=.103). Conclusion: This education program made available to university students on having positive values of marriage, children, and gender role. Especially, for nursing students who had low scores on values of marriage, children and gender role, this education program may contribute to increase the birth-rates.
